Auditions - Marie and Rosetta

ACTOR SEARCH- Scripps Ranch Theatre is on the hunt for 2 talented actresses for our show, Marie and Rosetta, Mar 29, 2024 – Apr 21, 2024, Directed by Yolanda Franklin, a co-production with Common Ground Theatre.
Although official auditions are not until Sept. 25 & 27, we want to put the word out for the following characters:
SISTER ROSETTA THARPE – An African-American woman in her 30s-40s-50s. Pretty, vivacious, with an irrepressible spirit. A mean guitar player with a bluesy voice. Sings spiritual that swing. A pioneering force of nature!
MARIE KNIGHT – An African-American woman in her early 20s-30s, but looks younger. A more traditional alternative gospel singer, plays staid piano at first. On her way to being a spiritual star.
Important Author’s Notes:
A note about ages: in historical reality, Sister Rosetta was in her early thirties and Marie in her early twenties in.1946. Productions are welcome to adjust ages as needed for casting purposes, as long as there is some kind of notably age gap.
